Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about work experience, internships and what I’m going to do after I graduate in December. I’m just about to submit my application for an amazing 9 month graduate programme with the Clemenger Group which includes a few of my dream advertising and marketing agencies. I’m crossing my fingers that I get a place in this internship, but trying not to get my hopes up for fear of failure. But really, I can’t explain how much I want this. :P
On the topic of internships, I recently came across the TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms) internship in Florida. It actually sounds so amazing! Would definitely be something I’d consider looking into if all else fails. I would love to travel to America, meet amazing new people, live in a new environment, and just do something different.
At the moment I feel like I have to go straight into working or getting experience next year, otherwise I’ll miss my chance of getting into the ad/marketing industry and getting a good career. Which I know isn’t true, but I do want to start working asap anyway.
For now I’ll just keep dreaming and hope for the best.
That is all.
I don’t know why I was so shocked this week to find out that people actually use the software I learnt in a Project Management paper at uni (MS Project) in real life. I’ve finally learnt something that’s actually useful! Except this project is a much larger scale than I’m used to.

I thought the day was going slow until I realised it’s already 1:30pm. Today has consisted of a whole lot of nothing much, followed by a bit o’ freezing my ass off. Not a fan of being sick right now. Although I fell asleep at 8:30pm last night (nana) and I’m feeling a whole lot better today.
Heading out to meet with a project team for an exciting promotion I’m helping with in a couple of minutes, then sitting in on a campaign proposal meeting for another potential client.
Three days into my placement and I’ve already had 7 meetings, including 2 out of office meetings with clients. Even though I’m pretty much a silent observer in the meetings, it’s been cool to see the mechanics of how everything is put together. In a meeting with Frucor yesterday I was astounded at how many areas and issues they covered to ensure the campaign runs smoothly and has flawless execution. H2Go’s Assistant Brand Manager Natalie is an amazing communicator and promotion coordinator, and she seems so young too! Definitely something to aspire to.
24 hours down. 336 to go.
First day at Below the Line was pretty good! Everyone in the office is so lovely. Just had introductions and a meeting in the morning and was given a campaign brief to do a bit of research for. Got a load of client meetings lined up for this week already with really exciting companies. Can’t wait!
Note to self: Remember to set alarm. Although I seemed to wake up earlier without my alarm… :|
And no time for Tumblr.
But as of Monday I’ll be starting my 9-week internship at Below the Line in Newmarket! Getting kind of nervous, but super keen to be learning new things and getting some experience. Not too sure what I’ll be doing at the moment, but my supervisor Ghanum has given me the title of Account Executive. Exciting!
